Roots Community Health Center
Our joint effort this summer is special because by partnering with Roots, we will impact the lives of the under-resourced patients we are serving not only through access to equitable education but also through access to equitable healthcare. Technology access is important for students to engage with their education at home, and now with growing telehealth resources, bridging the digital divide will make an even larger impact.
Roots Community Health Center serves under-resourced families and individuals experiencing homelessness in the Oakland and Santa Clara (Alameda County) area. 100% of your donations to this fundraiser will go directly to providing laptops to these families in order to improve technology access. We also provide free headphones to these families as we receive them.

Roots Community Health Center (Roots) is a non-profit organization focused on uplifting those impacted by systemic inequities, racism, and poverty through advocacy, robust community-centered integration of medical and behavioral care, social services, work enterprises, health navigation, and street outreach medical services.
Our commitment is to engage and empower all members of our community to counter the effects of multi-generational poverty, trauma, incarceration, chronic stress and longstanding lack of health access stemming from structural racism. Roots was established as a radical alternative in an effort to dismantle a system complacent with inequities, and instead emphasize bringing the community needs to the forefront of care design and capacity building. In partnership with Bridging Tech, our goal is to provide devices and technical support to individuals in need as we look to build a sustainable and equitable virtual care experience for all. |
The Bridging Tech Charitable Fund (Bridging Tech) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit public charity with a mission to bridge the digital divide for K-12 students affected by homelessness in the United States by providing educational opportunities and technology.
Particularly during the current crises of racial bias coupled with the COVID-19 pandemic, getting online devices to the millions of kids who do not have access to an educational device at home is critical to reduce the systemic inequity prevalent in our society. Our journey to understand generational cycles of inequity motivated us to get involved in bridging the digital divide on a deeper level. By providing students affected by homelessness with devices for learning, we are helping them access the resources they need to fully engage with their education. In partnership with Roots, we aim to improve the lives of those we serve holistically, including access to technology for both education and healthcare services. |
